Military perimeter security

When it comes to defense, nothing can be left to chance.  Perimeter intrusion detection systems have their roots in military applications, where they remain a major component of every facility’s security strategy.

Military facilities house top-secret information, critical machinery, cutting-edge weaponry and thousands of a nation’s servicemen and women.  For a myriad of reasons, the combination of security procedures and infrastructure in these facilities must provide the highest level of function and performance without compromise.  The perimeter is an area of major importance, as it is the first line of defense, where threats can be most efficiently detected and neutralized.

In the realm of national borders, illegal immigration and cross-border criminal activities -such as the trafficking of arms, drugs, humans and stolen goods- are commonplace and continually trouble officials and citizens alike.  The fact that these areas extend to lengths of several hundreds or thousands of kilometres of uninhabited land stipulates that the use of efficient electronic means of detection is not only of major importance but also the only means of combating such unwanted activities.
