MICROFLEX is a sophisticated perimeter security system designed to detect climbing on rigid barriers such as palisade, steel and aluminium railings. It delivers high reliability in all conditions, remaining completely unaffected by extreme weather, dense foliage or surrounding trees.
The system utilises special flex sensors paired with advanced signal processing units and is easily installed on typically any new or existing metal railing. It provides an uncompromising layer of defence for office and government buildings, VIP residencies, embassies, remote infrastructures and any application requiring definitive perimeter monitoring.
Operating principle
An intruder’s attempt to climb the railing causes microscopic flexing of the material, which is typically imperceptible to humans. MICROFLEX uses high accuracy sensors that continuously monitor the material’s resting state and detect this flexing with high reliability. As a result, the climbing attempt is identified and reported the moment it begins, even in the complete absence of noise and vibration.
No false alarms
MICROFLEX is designed to eliminate false alarms. It is unaffected by wind, rain, snow, hail, fog, sunlight and temperature variations. Bushes surrounding the railing, or even tree branches in contact with it, do not affect system operation or trigger false alarms. The same applies to the presence of nearby traffic, machinery, animals and birds.
Premium protection
MICROFLEX is engineered exclusively for palisade and metal railings, transforming a rigid physical barrier into an intelligent, early-warning detector. Unlike other security measures, it does not detect vibration or motion or interruption of a signal; it isolates the precise action of a human exerting force on the physical structure. This highly-focused specialization ensures that the security personnel receive actionable, high-fidelity alerts the exact moment a physical climbing attempt begins.
MICROFLEX is a purpose-built layer of defense engineered to offer peace of mind for perimeters that require definitive, reliable monitoring.
Suitability test
Railings can vary widely from one another in terms of dimensions, material type and thickness, post spacing and ultimately rigidity. Although MICROFLEX has been proven to work on the vast majority of railings, it is fair to imply that there may be rare cases where it is not suitable. If in doubt, an quick suitability test can be performed.
The test is extremely easy, quick and non-destructive: A sensor is attached to the railing using a pair of hand screw clamps, such as F-clamps, and a processor is powered from a small battery. This allows a technician to establish, in a matter of minutes, whether the system is suitable and what the optimum spacing between sensors is.
Installation
Installation of MICROFLEX is quick and straightforward. The sensors are attached to the railing posts using the provided self-drilling bolts, or specially available mini clamps if the posts are made of solid metal. The processors are weatherproof and are typically mounted on the wall adjacent to the railing or any exterior location.
There are no analog adjustments to be made on the processor. The on-board menu system offers straightforward parameters that can be easily modified by the technician or by the end user, if desired, without a laptop or any external instruments.
